Sports Funding
The government provided additional funding of £150 million starting in the academic year 2015/2016 to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding – provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport – is allocated to primary school Headteachers.
Schools must spend this additional funding on improving the provision of PE and sport, but have been given the freedom to choose how they choose to develop or add to the sport activities the school offers and to make improvements that will benefit pupils in the future.
